Yellowknife Municipal Election 2026
The Yellowknife Chamber of Commerce, Northern Mosaic Network, NWT Seniors' Society, Yellowknife Women's Society, YWCA NWT and Alternatives North are partnering to provide residents with opportunities to hear from candidates and learn more about the issues that matter to our community ahead of the 2026 Municipal Election. Cabin Radio will serve as the media partner for the initiative, supporting the Mayoral Candidate Forum and providing livestream production.
Mayoral Candidate Forum
Mayoral candidates in the 2026 Yellowknife Municipal Election will come together on October 5 for a candidate forum, giving residents an opportunity to hear directly from those seeking to serve as Yellowknife's next Mayor.

Residents can attend the forum in person or watch online. Cabin Radio will serve as the media partner for the forum and provide livestream production. Livestream details and the viewing link will be added to this page once available.
Councillor Candidate Questionnaire
With 22 candidates currently running for Yellowknife City Council, the participating organizations want to ensure residents have an opportunity to learn about each candidate and where they stand on issues affecting the community.
Each councillor candidate will be invited to complete a questionnaire covering a wide range of municipal and community topics. Responses will be published, providing residents with an opportunity to hear directly from participating candidates and consider their responses across a broader range of issues.
Submitted questions will help identify the issues and topics that matter to Yellowknife residents and will help shape both the Mayoral Candidate Forum and Councillor Candidate Questionnaire.
Due to the number of candidates and the time available, not all submitted questions may be used. Similar questions may be combined or adapted to allow a broader range of topics to be covered. Questions will be reviewed to ensure they are appropriate for a non-partisan election initiative and relevant to matters affecting Yellowknife.
