The Small Business of The Year Award is presented to a business with 20 or less employees who has demonstrated significant business achievement, service excellence and involvement in our community.

 

LARGE BUSINESS OF THE YEAR AWARD:

The Corporate Business of The Year Award is presented to a corporation with 21 or more employees who has demonstrated significant business achievement, financial growth, service excellence and involvement in our community.

 

INDIGENOUS ENTREPRENEURSHIP AWARD:

The Indigenous-Owned Business of the Year Award celebrates the Indigenous business sector and its contributions to the local economy. The award is presented to a business who has demonstrated significant business achievement, service excellence and involvement in our community. Businesses must be 51% Indigenous owned and operated.

 

CUSTOMER SERVICE AWARD OF EXCELLENCE:

The Medicine Shoppe Pharmacy

The Customer Service Award of Excellence is given to a business that has best demonstrated outstanding customer service in their everyday business, and leadership in setting high customer service standards for Yellowknife.

 

COMMUNITY IMPACT AWARD:

A-list Organizing With Alyssa Mosher

The Community Involvement Award is given to the business whose owners or employees have demonstrated a commitment to community involvement by participating in community groups (charitable, not-for-profit, business or professional associations), and whose community work or initiatives have improved life for their fellow citizens.

 

BREAKOUT NEW BUSINESS AWARD:

Northwest Territories Veterinary Services

The Breakout New Business Award recognizes the vital importance of new business start-ups in our community and will be presented to a business that is been in operation for less than 3 years and has demonstrated innovation and growth. This company must have a strong foundation in place for continued commercial success.

 

YOUNG ENTREPRENEUR OF THE YEAR AWARD:

Blunt YK

The Young Entrepreneur of the Year Award celebrates outstanding achievement by young entrepreneurs. The award is given to the business that best demonstrates effective leadership and has excellent potential for growth. The nominee must be between the ages of 18 and 35.

 

WORKPLACE HEALTH & SAFETY AWARD:

AVENS: A Community for Seniors

The Workplace Health & Safety Award recognizes an organization that has shown leadership through its commitment to improving its health and safety management practices or implemented a new, unique idea to create a safer, healthier work environment.

The organization must not be currently prosecuted or investigated for prosecution, for a violation under the Northwest Territories occupational health and safety legislation. All safety management and practices must be in compliance with the NWT Occupational Health and Safety Act, Regulation and Code.

 

TRAILBLAZERS WOMEN IN BUSINESS AWARD:

The Trailblazers Women in Business Award celebrates women in business and their contributions to the local economy. As successful business owners, Yellowknife’s trailblazers play a critical role in shaping our business community. The award is presented to a business who has demonstrated significant business achievement, service excellence and involvement in our community. Businesses must be 51% owned and operated by a woman.

 

INNOVATION AWARD:

Old Town Glassworks

The Innovation Award recognizes a business that is pushing conventional boundaries and disrupting and reshaping their industry through innovative achievements. This could include a creative business concept, the launch of a unique product or business expansion, an investment that improves service or productivity, or the introduction of something new to Yellowknife.
