Yellowknife Chamber Recommendations

Thank you for the opportunity to provide feedback on how the City of Yellowknife should spend the $230,000 in Covid Safe Restart funding allocated to provide support to Yellowknife businesses.

At the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, we asked the City of Yellowknife to waive business licensing fees, a measure that would support Yellowknife businesses by reducing fixed costs during a time when many businesses are generating substantially less revenue than usual.

We were pleased to see that waiving business license fees was among the options identified by Administration as a ‘strong option’ for the Covid Safe Restart funding and would like to reiterate our support for the City of Yellowknife to waive business licensing fees from June 1, 2021 to June 1, 2022.

We look forward to continuing to work with the City of Yellowknife to support businesses during the COVID-19 pandemic.
